'Possibly the biggest one piece cherry bowl in the world.' The bow,l now residing in a private residence in New York, was 800mm in diameter.
Brief - not to allow a 100 year-old cherry tree go to waste. This tree was felled because it was encroaching on the foundations of the house next to it. Felled in slabs of about 150mm, it provided a wonderful opportunity.
The bowl was hand-carved and polished to a high lustre. A very difficult piece to make, due to it being susceptible to cracking in half, the piece took well over 6 months to complete.
The only one ever to be made.
