  • Introduction to Hand Tools for Furniture Making
    Marc Fish's tool board

    Covering handtools, there will be practical sessions on planing, sawing and chiseling – forming the ideal starting point for cutting and fitting accurate joints. Next course: 12th February 2022 Cost: £295

  • Japanese Toolbox with Derek Jones

    Japanese style joinery can be extremely complicated but there are occasions when simplicity and function come together to make the perfect form. Next course: 2022 Dates TBC Cost: £295

  • Laminating Weekend Class

    Experience these amazing techniques and take your work to a different level! As laminating is more accurate than steam bending, it is ideal for combining sculptural work with fine cabinet making. Next course: 14-15 May 2022, 09-10 July 2022. Cost: £295

  • Make A Six Board Chest with Derek Jones

    The six board chest is a design that is almost as old as the concept of furniture itself and is as relevant today as it has ever been. Next course: TBC Cost: £295

  • Make a Wooden Hand Plane with Theo Cook
    How to make a wooden hand plane weekend

    Learn how to make a wooden plane. This will involve skills such as bandsawing, routing, drilling, shaping with a spokeshave, sanding and finishing. Next course date: 1-3 July 2022 This a 3 day course. Cost: £400

  • Making Jigs & Templates
    Andrew Strickland RHS cabinet making student

    Next Course: 28th May 2022. Jig and template-making one day course, £195.00 Learn how to make your own jigs and templates at this one-day course with Robinson House Studio’s senior tutor and master craftsman, Theo Cook. The course covers making jigs by hand as well as the use of CAD programs, laser-cutter, and a CNC router.

  • Making the Perfect Dovetails Weekend Class

    Ideal if you want to know more about the mark of a master craftsman – the dovetail joint! When well-executed it is the epitome of high-level work. Cost: £295 Next course: 02-03 April 2022

  • Spindle Moulding Weekend Class

    The spindle moulder is a versatile machine – we cover safe use and setup, rebating, shaping, using formers, tenons, power feeds, jig making, and guarding. Dates: TBC. Cost: £295.

  • Steam Bending with Charlie Whinney – 1 Day

    Steam bending is an ancient woodworking process which is found on every continent. Next course date: 23rd July 2022 Cost: £240 – 1 day

  • Veneering One Day Course
    Josh-Wilton-box-RHS-student

    This one-day introductory course is designed to help attendees understand and apply different approaches to veneering. The course covers cutting, joining and gluing veneer edges, book and slip matching, and shooting veneer to create a straight edge. 16th April 2022, £195 for one day course.

  • Wood Carving with the Wood Warlock
    Dickie Baugh, the Wood Warlock, woodcarver

    We are delighted to have Dickie join us to offer would be woodcarvers chance to explore this ancient art form with a master of the craft. Next Course Dates: 22nd – 23rd January 2022, 3rd – 4th December 2022. Cost £295.

Prior to my time at robinson house studio I had worked as a carpenter both on site and in a workshop. I realised I wanted to pursue making bespoke fine furniture and felt that a course with Marc at the studio offered in-depth cabinet making tuition as well as the opportunity to explore design. It certainly proved to be an exciting environment to be a part of, with emphasis on contemporary design and the use of innovative new materials and techniques.

A stunning jewellery box made by one of our studen A stunning jewellery box made by one of our students Phil @timber_robot_studio . Made from pau ferro, bog oak and holly. Using ebonised bog oak veneer to match the naturally black solid timber. Designed to be a tactile object, with crisp lines to create a striking silhouette. It uses marquetry to highlight the contrast in wood grain and colour of the three timbers.
