Next course: 16th April 2022.
This one-day introductory course is designed to help attendees understand and apply different approaches to veneering. Suitable for those new to the topic as well as those looking to improve their skills, the course will walk attendees through the various types of veneer, specialist glues and veneer tape, as well as methods of gluing veneer including the use of vacuum bags or a hydraulic heated press.
The course covers cutting, joining and gluing veneer edges, book and slip matching, and shooting veneer to create a straight edge.
The veneering course is taught by Robinson House Studio’s senior tutor, Theo Cook.
Theo’s CV would make any maker envious; he was an apprentice for three years at Edward Barnsley’s workshop here in the UK, and worked for one year with James Krenov in the USA. Theo then went on to to supervise students at Barnsley’s and worked as a master craftsman for them before being whipped-up by design duo Senior & Carmichael, where he spent 9 years as their top maker, perfecting his skills.
