2025 Course Dates:

Our next long course intake begins on 22nd April 2025 and after that on 8th September 2025.
Occasionally we can take students outside these intake dates.
If you wanted to gain knowledge of the studio and tutors, we offer a very popular ‘Taster Week’ at £750.00. It runs several times a year.

This taster course offers so many skills to take away from working with and caring for hand tools through to how to work to a level of care and precision that is almost hard to imagine! Would recommend to anyone with a keen interest in working with wood whatever your ability there will be something to take forward into your own practice - so much so I myself am already considering signing up to one of their other courses!

  • 19 Week Furniture Design & Makers Course
    Students at Robinson House Studio, Newhaven with Theo Cook and Marc Fish as tutors

    The new 19 weeks course has been specifically designed for students who want to learn the core skills of traditional and contemporary furniture design and making. You will guided through several set projects that teach you to create furniture of exceptional standard. Cost: £14,500. Deposit £6,000 to secure your place.

  • 50 Week Furniture Design & Makers’ Course
    Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) have credit rated our popular 50 Week Furniture Design and Makers’ course at SCQF Level 8

    This one year course is aimed at those who are looking to commit to a change in their life. This course has been credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) at SCQF Level 8, opening more opportunities for students wishing to study furniture design and making and leave with an internationally recognised qualification. Do you wonder if you have the creativity and the ambition to run your own business? We’ll teach you everything you need to know, right from the beginning. Cost £22,500. £6,000 deposit to secure your place.

  • 2 Year Furniture Design & Makers’ Course

    This two year course is aimed at those who are looking for a big change in their life. Whether you’re deciding what to do after college, or looking for a career change, this course is ideal, and suitable for complete beginners. Cost £32,500. £6,000 deposit to secure your place.

I have completed two weekends courses here. The plane making course with Theo and the wood finishing course with Marc. Both were great. They're fantastic at what they do and were happy answering any questions. At the end of each course I was a lot more clued-up on the subject and my work is improving thanks to them. 5 stars.

Modernist Drinks cabinet : Lelló made by @ianbur Modernist Drinks cabinet : Lelló made by @ianburnelldesigns on our 50 weeks Furniture design and makers course. Materials used are London Plane and sand blasted glass doors. Lelló is a modernist inspired cabinet with an Eco conscious twist. The name comes from the playful use of yellow featured in the piece. The entire structure is held together by 46 hand cut dovetails (5 or 6 on each corner) including the internal box sections. The London Plane used in this piece was from a single tree that was grown on the streets of East London. The exterior has been ebonized and the internal surfaces have been waxed to enhance the vibrancy of the natural tones of this stunning timber. This piece went on to be awarded a Highly commended award in the Australian @woodreview competition that was sponsored by Carbatec in 2022. Great piece @ianburnelldesigns Well Done ! This stunning double bench made from a beautiful s This stunning double bench made from a beautiful solid piece of bog oak which revealed its true beauty whilst being made by @joe_robinson_designs Joe learnt how to use our CNC machine in the workshop. In the finished piece you can see a gradient colour which was revealed in the process which had been hidden in the ancient bog oak for many years, such a beautiful finished piece.
